Formerly known as Maricalum Mining Corporation, owned by Don Jesus Cabaruz, this now abandoned copper and gold mine once stood as the largest open-pit mine in Southeast Asia, operating from 1949 to the 1980s and employing up to 7,000 workers during its peak. Since its closure in July 2, 2001, it has been a captivating historical site with remnants of its main processing plant.
