Am-among Festival

The Bontoc Am-among Festival holds immense significance as a cornerstone of the town’s annual founding anniversary celebrations.

According to the venerable wisdom imparted by the local elders, the term ‘am-among’ encapsulates the ancestral custom of the Bontoc community, symbolizing a ‘clan reunion’ that transpires following the culmination of the initial rice cultivation season, commonly referred to as ‘chinakhon.’

Sumaguing Cave, Sagada

Descending approximately two hundred fifty steps along a precipitous path, one can reach the Sumaguing Cave, a renowned spelunking destination in Sagada, Mountain Province.

Mt. Kalawitan, Bontoc & Sabangan

Mount Kalawitan is the 10th highest summit in the Philippines, located in Sabangan and Bontoc, Mountain Province. Known for its challenging and rugged terrain, it is a favored destination among experienced hikers and mountaineers, offering sweeping panoramic views of the Cordillera mountain ranges and nearby Ifugao landscapes.

The name Kalawitan, as preferred by locals, is believed to be derived from the Kankaney word kalawit, meaning “to climb,” reflecting the mountain’s steep and demanding ascent.

Mt. Amuyao, Barlig

It is one of the highest peaks in the Cordillera region, rising to about 2,702 meters above sea level. Located in Barlig, Mountain Province, it is known for its challenging trek, steep trails, mossy forests, and rich biodiversity.
