Inside, its original “retablo” (altar backdrop), dual pulpits, and beautifully preserved herringbone-pattern wooden floors reflect the remarkable artistry of the 19th century.
Lazi Convent
Standing adjacent to the church is the historic Lazi Convent, one of the largest and oldest convents in the Philippines. Completed in 1891 and built in the traditional Bahay na Bato style, the two-story structure served as a residence and retreat house for friars during the Spanish colonial period.
