Piña Weaving

Inscribed on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, Pina is the most highly regarded of the traditional textile in the Philippines. The piña cloth and other piña products  could be costly for some, but these  are works of art are considered  collector’s items.

Kalibo Sr. Sto. Niño Ati-atihan Festival

Dance in the streets of Kalibo as you take part in the Ati-atihan Festival. It  is a culturally vibrant festival full of color, dancing, and weeklong celebrations you’ll never forget.

Kalibo Bakhawan Eco-park

The Bakhawan Eco-Park, sprawling across 220 hectares in Kalibo, Aklan, Philippines, is a DOT-accredited Tourism Recreation Center. Through collaboration between the local government, non-government organizations, and the Kalibo Save the Mangroves Association (KASAMA), muddy shorelines were transformed into a thriving mangrove sanctuary, known locally as “bakhawan”.

This Eco-Park stands as a testament to environmental stewardship, curbing floods and storm surges while providing a sustainable livelihood for the community.

Recognized as the Philippines’ most successful mangrove reforestation endeavor, it’s also acclaimed internationally by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization.

Visitors can traverse a 1.3-kilometer bamboo trail, immersing themselves in the lush mangrove forest teeming with diverse flora and fauna.

The park offers more than just nature exploration, featuring a watchtower, souvenir shop, dining areas, and opportunities for relaxation and learning at the Center for International Mangrove Studies.
