Province of BatangasFestival Date: April 06, 2023 The Pabasa ng Pasyon (reading of the Passion) happens during Holy Week, with people gathering to read and chant about the life, passion, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The most commonly read texts are the ‘Pasyong Mahal’ and ‘Mahal na Passion ni Jesuchristong Panginoon Natin na Tola.’ Written in 1704, the latter was written by Gaspar Aquino de Belen and is the first dated Pasyon text, consisting of 980 verses.
