Tacloban CityFestival Date: June 19, 2023 This religious ceremony is a prominent event in Tacloban City. Balyuan Rites is the exchange of images of the Holy Child between Tacloban City in Leyte and Basey town in Samar. The Basey Flotilla bearing the Holy Child, or El Capitan, goes on a fluvial procession along San Pedro Bay. Once the flotilla is sighted off Kankabatok Bay, a ‘budyong’ (shell) call signals the start of the novena for the great feast of the Santo Niño de Tacloban. The Santo Niño image enshrined at the Archdiocesan Shrine in Tacloban City, is said to have originated from the Buscada Chapel in Basey way back in the 17th century.What to wearComfortable shoes and clothes TRAVEL TIPS
