Get DirectionsThe Archdiocesan Shrine of Sto. Niño de Tacloban, also known as the Church of Liberation, houses the miraculous image of the Santo Niño. The Santo Niño is Leyte’s heavenly patron and is also known as El Capitan. It was lost at sea on its way from Manila on the SS Luzon in 1889. Some fishermen recovered it later on on Semirara Island in Mindoro.
