The Santo Niño is Leyte’s heavenly patron and is also known as El Capitan. It was lost at sea on its way from Manila on the SS Luzon in 1889. Some fishermen recovered it later on on Semirara Island in Mindoro. The archdiocese is currently working on the declaration of the shrine as a minor basilica.AddressReal St., Tacloban CityContact DetailsEmail: [email protected]Operational Hours5:00 am – 7:00 pmBest time to visitYear-roundHow to get thereFrom Tacloban proper, ride a ‘tricycle’ (a motorized three-wheeled vehicle) or multicab to Sto.
