Sunrise / Sunset Viewing at San Jose de Banza Church Ruins

Stand in awe of the sunrises and sunsets in the historic city of Butuan, where a once remarkable stone church lies concealed beneath a legendary local balete tree, a kind of banyan tree. Constructed in 1625 by devoted Recollect friars, this architectural marvel stands as a testament to their unwavering devotion. It stood magnificently until 1753 when it was left in ruins by Moro pirates. The ruins stand to this day for those who wish to catch a glimpse of its former glory.
