Stand in awe of this Pangasinan historical gem, which was constructed in the mid-19th century during the Spanish colonial era. Casa Real serves as the province’s inaugural Provincial Capitol. It was designated a National Historical Landmark by the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) in 2002, due to its unique civic architecture influenced by both the Spanish and American colonial periods.
Casa Real has endured decades of environmental challenges, such as earthquakes and typhoons. A three-phase restoration project is currently in the works with the collaborative efforts of the Provincial Government of Pangasinan, then congressman and now Lingayen Mayor Leopoldo Bataoil, the Department of Public Works and Highways, the Tourism Infrastructure and Economic Zone Authority, the Pangasinan Historical and Cultural Commission (PHCC), the Pangasinan Heritage Society, Inc., and the NHCP. The building is further envisioned to be turned into the Museo na Pangasinan to preserve its heritage for future generations.
